Graduate Software Developer

The Role

Reporting to a Team Manager, you will work with a team of talented software developers in a challenging and rewarding professional environment for cutting edge software development; where non-hierarchical teams are the norm; where a passion for learning new and interesting technologies is essential; and where, in your first 18 months, you will benefit from an intensive development programme that will provide you with exposure to a range of complex projects.

You’ll find out there’s a lot more to software than coding: version control, build systems, unit testing and using open source technologies.

Key Responsibilities

In your first 18 months your will be given the opportunity to develop your experience and knowledge of the following technologies:

  • Object Oriented Application Development
  • Unified Modelling Language (UML) design
  • Java GUI Development
  • Swing
  • SWT
  • XML libraries and binding technologies
  • SOAP
  • CVS, Subversion
  • JUnit or other unit testing frameworks.

You will contribute to the team in line with your progress and development.

The Person

You will be self motivated, energetic and upbeat; take a logical and systematic approach to problem solving; be a perfectionist who strives for timely completion of projects; have the ability to prioritise the urgency of multiple requests and then take charge of these to meet deadlines.

You love software; you love programming, and you have:


  • An honours degree in a Computer Science or related engineering discipline.
  • Strong Java skills with practical experience.
  • The ability to learn quickly.
  • A keen interest in emerging software technology.
  • A demonstrable drive to develop your technical skill set.
  • Evidence of being a strong team player.
